Fayette County Open Space Trust
Fayetteville, GA · Almond Grove
Fayette County Open Space Trust is acquiring and permanently protecting 120 acres of historically significant agricultural land in the Almond Grove community, converting it to a conservation reserve with a planted native forest buffer. This project funds the establishment of a 40-acre native hardwood forest on the perimeter of the reserve, using Georgia-preferred species selected for long-term carbon sequestration and wildlife support. The reserve will serve as a public greenspace with passive recreation trails and an environmental education program for Fayette County's public schools. Conservation easements recorded with the county will protect the land in perpetuity.
