Browns Mill Food Forest
Atlanta, GA · East Point
The Browns Mill Food Forest is expanding its urban growing corridor in one of Atlanta's most underserved food-access neighborhoods. This phase plants 120 mixed fruit and nut trees across three city-owned parcels — transforming vacant lots into a connected food forest trail linking Browns Mill Road to the nearby community garden. Native species (pawpaw, serviceberry, American persimmon) are paired with heritage orchard varieties selected for the Southeast climate. Every tree comes with a 2-year maintenance commitment from volunteer tree stewards. The project is coordinated with the City of East Point's vacant lot remediation program.
